World Bridge Series gold goes to BFB representatives!
These were days filled with the highest sporting tension and titanic work. Krzysztof Buras and Piotr Lutostański, representing the Bridge for Business Foundation, defended the World Open Pairs Championship title they won four years ago in Wrocław! The Poles claimed one of the eight most important gold medals of this year’s World Championships – 17th WORLD BRIDGE SERIES – Katowice 2026.
The road to gold required iron conditioning and strategic precision. As many as 191 pairs from all over the globe entered the prestigious competition. The tournament had a grueling schedule – the players competed daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. After two days of eliminations and two days of fierce semifinals, the elite field of the 50 best duets in the world (including as many as 20 pairs from Poland) was determined.
The two days of the grand final provided fans with immense excitement. Krzysztof and Piotr achieved their masterly feat in beautiful style. During the long finish, right in the last session of the tournament, they took a clear lead over the rest of the field and sealed their historic success with a final score of 56.01 percent.
